Edit tools: fix the colour map

Paint, fill and zap the colour map to fix what the colour step got wrong. The vector re-traces as you go.

Every pixel of the colour map belongs to a shape, so fixing the map fixes the vector. About a second after you stop painting, PathSnapper traces the shapes again, with clean curves, straight lines and true circles. (Untick Update automatically on the Output step to trace only when you press Update vectors.)

The tools are on the left of the canvas. Switch between Colour map and Vector above the canvas to see each.

Pencil: paint in a colour

  1. Select the colour in the Palette, or click it on the map with the Picker (I).
  2. Choose Pencil (B) and set the Brush size, or press [ and ].
  3. Paint on the colour map, then switch to Vector: the new shape is already traced.

Zap stray pixels and fill whole areas

  1. Zap (Z): click a speck or stray area and it merges into whatever surrounds it.
  2. Fill (G): click an area to recolour all of it in the selected colour. Here the hole in the ring becomes yellow.
  3. Check the result on the Vector tab.

Picker, undo and redo

  1. Picker (I): click the map to select that colour. You go straight back to the tool you were using.
  2. Undo with Ctrl+Z and redo with Ctrl+Shift+Z, or use the arrows under the tools.
  3. Reset edits puts the colour map back as it was found.
